100 Master Plumbers
On 2nd April Grant Nicoll EngTech LCGI MIPHE RP from IPHE Scotland received his Master Plumber Certificate. This marked the 100th presentation since the inception of the award in 2001.
Grant, who has been a member of the Institute for over 30 years, is a self-employed plumbing and heating engineer. He is a Professional Standards Inspector and was an Area coordinator for the IPHE. With 47 years experience in the industry, Grant has been an ideal role model to the countless number of apprentices that he has helped to train.
Geoff Marsh, who was instrumental in setting up the award said: “This landmark presentation gave cause for some considerable satisfaction, in that it confirmed the growing realisation that there is a need for a vocational award that sets a consistently high standard of achievement in both qualifications and experience.
“By involving City & Guilds Senior Awards, Engineering Council (UK) Registration, IPHE Corporate Membership and the traditional support of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers, it has become a mark of maturity for those who serve the plumbing industry.”
